Welcome to

South Port Surf Life Saving Club

Established 1959 – Over 500 lives saved by members.

The South Port Clubhouse is situtated in the sand dunes at the mouth of the Onkaparinga River Estuary. Due to it location at the mouth of a major South Australian river and its position in Gulf St. Vincent, South Port is an excellent surfing beach both for board riders and body surfers.

You are most welcome to join as a member or come along to South Port Beach and enjoy a relaxed beach environment with, at times favourable surf conditions.

Beach and surf safety tips…

§         Always swim under supervision or with a friend.

§         Always swim or surf at beaches patrolled by surf lifesavers.

§         Swim between the red and yellow flags on patrolled beaches. They mark the safest place to swim.

§         If you get into trouble in the surf, keep calm, raise one arm for help, float and wait for assistance.

§         Remember to always apply sunscreen, wear a hat and sunnies when at the beach.

§         Avoid swimming after a meal and never after drinking alcohol.

WE ARE A GOOD SPORTS CLUB

SOUTH PORT APPLIES FOR GOOD SPORTS LEVEL TWO ACCREDITATION
After a year as a level One Good Sports Club, South Port is now working towards Level Two accreditation under the Australian Drug Foundation’s Good Sports program. The program aims to make clubs more viable by assisting with the responsible management of alcohol through the development of a code of conduct. As part of Level Two accreditation we will develop policies around responsible alcohol management including the sale of low alcohol drinks and soft drinks. Our facilities will be recognised as smoke free and we will develop safe transport strategies to ensure our members get home safely. Food will be provided when serving alcohol and the emphasis for player awards, fundraising, functions and prizes will not be alcohol. We are confident our efforts will continue to improve the environment at South Port. We are working to ensure the Club is a great place to play and socialise for all members of our community. The club will be regularly monitored to ensure we comply with the program. This is the responsibility of all our members to make sure we do the right thing while we’re enjoying ourselves and having fun.

MAJOR NEW SPONSOR FOR NEXT 2 YEARS

New club major sponsor for the next 2 years.

Top Level (HK) Industrial Limited. (Mr Addie Yeung, Managing Director and his business partners.)

Top Level is a Hong Kong based Chinese manufacturer and has agreed to sponsor South Port for the next 2 years. The funds will be deployed to supply our new flat screen TV for training videos and entertainment for the club. The funds will also be deployed to sponsor one of our up and coming junior athletes Catlin Gray by way of a surf ski. It is anticipated that there will be other uses for the remaining funds as our Board of Management sees fit to best serve the needs of the membership.

For this sponsorship you will see the “Devo” surfboat have new livery during the coming months as well as signage up around the club and also on the new sponsored ski.

We also anticipate Mr Yeung will visit the club to meet as many members as possible late in March prior to the Aussies and we want to make sure we give him a great welcome. More to come on this later once confirmed

Thanks to Life Member Brian Johns for his work in gaining this sponsorship for our Club
