Carnival #5 – 1st July 2012 – State Championships DO YOU WANT TO IMPROVE YOUR SURF SKI SKILLS? The Next Wave, with support from Australian Canoeing, is holding a Paddling Development Clinic on Sat 18 Feb, at West Lakes. This Clinic will give local surf coaches and athletes the chance to learn some new skills from a paddling expert. Kris Lepianka, the SA Sports Institute (SASI) Kayaking Development Coach will run this Paddling Development Clinic. Kris is a very successful coach that has worked around the world and has just returned from the Junior World Championships in Germany where he was coaching the Australian U18 Kayaking team. The coach development session will focus on improving the knowledge of surf coaches about paddling technique. Kris will discuss paddling technique as well as touch on his experiences, training sessions and programs. Any coach is welcome to attend this session, surf ski coaches are encouraged to attend. The athlete development session is open to all surf athletes. The focus of this session will be on improving your paddling technique to make you a better paddler. The session will be conducted on flat water and athletes will need to bring their own surf skis and paddles to use. Interested in attending?Then register... Thank You to the Mid Coast Group for organising the event and to Craig Smith our Club’s Co-ordinator. Thanks to Devo, Bristles, Bones , Bernie and Andy Higgs for their time and to everyone who helped out with the BBQ, Officials, Recorders, Water Cover and with Registration. Thanks to Goldy for taking great photos and to the Sponsor of the event MOBIL. Costa Vista has given the Club another donation from their recycling of $ 308:00. Let’s all support Dawn and Colin and drop in for a meal/coffee once in a while. The Cookie Dough Fundraiser organised by Amanda Cushing raised a profit of $ 195:00, well done Amanda. JUNIOR NEWS: FROM TONY No Board Training this Thursday due to Australia Day Celebrations. NIPPERTHON on AUSTRALIA DAY South Port is hosting the Nipperthon this year and we need people to help out in anyway they can. We need people to help set up, do water cover, help with registration, recorders, officials, and BBQ Cooks. This Carnival only goes for a small part of the day and we all usually hang back and celebrate the day at the Club.
